A pure silk Kanjivaram costs many times its rent to buy, which is why renting for a wedding makes sense. Check the listing for the fabric, the length (most sarees are 5.5–6.3 m) and whether a stitched blouse is included and in what size; a blouse piece needs a tailor and a few days.
At handover, open the saree fully: look at the zari border and the pallu for pulled threads, and check for stains or perfume marks. Photograph anything you see so it is on record.
Do not wash or iron it yourself unless the owner says so; silk and zari need a dry cleaner. Return it folded the way it came, ideally in the cloth bag it was given in.
