Delivery Terms
Effective 24 Oct 2026
1. When delivery is available
- You can collect an item yourself from the host's pickup point, or have it delivered if the listing offers delivery.
- A delivery is made either by the host, or by a delivery partner Lumo books in the app: currently Borzo, and Lumo's own delivery partners where available.
- Lumo does not promise free, instant or same-day delivery. The delivery charge and expected timing are shown in the app at checkout, before you pay.
2. Delivery charges
- The delivery charge is paid by the renter at checkout and goes to whoever delivers (the host, or the delivery partner). Lumo does not keep it.
- If a booking is cancelled, the delivery charge is refunded under the Cancellation and Refund Policy. It is part of the "rent and fees" in the late-cancellation rule.
3. The rental clock
The rental starts when the item is delivered to the renter (or handed over at pickup). It ends when the host gets it back. Time on the road does not count against the renter's days.
4. Host and renter duties
Host: have the item ready and packed securely for the courier, in the pickup window, with all its accessories. Take the handover photos in the app.
Renter: be reachable at the delivery address at the time shown. Check the item and take photos in the app when it arrives. For a delivered return, pack the item as you received it and hand it over in the return window.
Don't hand a courier anything that isn't part of the booking, and don't ask a courier to carry prohibited items.
Some items can't go by courier because of their size, weight or fragility. The app only offers delivery where a partner can carry the item. Current limits:
Delivery partner Weight Distance and area Borzo (booked as a motorbike delivery) up to 20 kg no fixed size or distance limit set by Lumo; Borzo's own rules apply Lumo's own delivery partners up to 15 kg legs up to 15 km, pickup and drop within 40 km of central Bengaluru Lumo may change these limits. The app always applies the current ones. Heavier or bulkier items are collect-only, or delivered by the host.
5. What the delivery partner sees
Before accepting a trip, a delivery partner sees only the approximate area. Once they accept, they see the pickup and drop addresses and a contact name and number for each end. During the trip, the renter and host can see the partner's name and live location in the app. See the Privacy Policy.
6. If a delivery goes wrong
- Failed pickup or delivery (nobody there, wrong address, unreachable): the party at fault pays the delivery fee, including for a second attempt. If the host is at fault (item not ready, host not there), the renter's delivery charge is refunded. If the renter is at fault, the delivery charge is not refunded. A renter no-show at delivery counts as a late cancellation under the Cancellation and Refund Policy: Lumo keeps the delivery charge, 10% of the rent and convenience fee, plus the transaction fee (2%), and the rest, including the deposit, comes back.
- Checking the item at each handover: the delivery partner checks the item in the app when collecting it (from the host, and from the renter on the way back) and reports any damage with photos before accepting it. The renter checks it on delivery before confirming receipt, and the host checks it on return before confirming. Once a handover is confirmed, the item's condition at that handover can no longer be disputed.
- Damage or loss in transit: report it in the app straight away with photos. Lumo handles the claim with the delivery partner on your behalf, using the handover photos and the partner's pickup and delivery records. Damage in transit is not charged to the renter's deposit. For deliveries by Lumo's own delivery partners, Lumo compensates the host for in-transit damage or loss up to the item's declared replacement value. For deliveries by a third-party partner (for example Borzo), compensation is what that partner pays under its terms, and Lumo passes it on in full.
- Rider conduct: report any problem with a delivery partner through Get help on the booking.
7. Treat delivery partners with respect
Delivery partners are independent, pay-per-trip partners, not Lumo employees. Their status is set out in the rider agreement, and Lumo meets its duties as an aggregator under the Code on Social Security, 2020. Harassment, abuse, or asking a partner to do anything unsafe or illegal can lead to account suspension.
